Dodgers outfielder Puig accidentally breaks video camera in celebration

A cameraman got an unhappy surprise—and an unwelcomed shower—during the end of a baseball playoff game earlier this week.

According to the source, Yasiel Puig, outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, appeared in the middle of a post-game interview that TBS reporter Craig Sager was conducting with Puig's teammate, Juan Uribe, with a cooler full of Gatorade, as is a common custom. The Dodgers had just eliminated the Atlanta Braves from the MLB playoffs, so Puig had reason to celebrate.

Unfortunately, in addition to dousing his teammate, Puig also managed to soak Sager and the cameraman filming the encounter, causing the feed to be distorted into green and purple swirls and the equipment to be damaged.

While the audience might have got a kick out of this interruption, to the crew tasked with filming these events, the loss of a camera is no laughing matter. In order to replace a high-definition video camera used for broadcast television, replacement cameras must be sought out quickly, which is where a good relationship with someone who is known to deliver in this area can be helpful.

Disasters that occur in the public eye may be embarrassing but they don't have to be completely crippling, thanks to the ease with which you can "cover your bases" after such an incident happens.

Owners of new and used video gear need to understand when such danger is about to occur and what the cost is to replace video equipment if something goes wrong.
